Why you should read this book

The one thing that is absolutely certain in life is that you will die.

As an extra sensory therapist, the author has had many opportunities to experience what happens when someone dies. He has found that there is a direct correlation between what you think will happen when you die and what actually happens when you die. If it is thus true, that your thoughts mostly determine your death experience, it makes sense to create positive thoughts about death while alive. He also discovered that what happens to you after death depends mostly on how you are living your daily life. The author’s exposure to various death scenarios, be it natural or suicide, from children to the elderly, allows the reader to learn from the death experiences of others.

The author has discovered that although it is beneficial to understand death, one should not ponder over the topic for too long, because pondering over life is far more important. This book therefore is equally about life, karma, knowing yourself and loving who you are. It explains in a refreshingly real way, the sense behind life.

When you die, you are very much aware of everything that is happening to you. It therefore makes sense to be aware about what you could expect. This book assists you in gaining that awareness. It may come in handy one day when you really need it.

From the author

I have wanted to record and share the message captured in this book, for a very, very long time, perhaps even across lifetimes.

As an extrasensory therapist, I have had many opportunities to experience what happens when you die. I have spent time with people before and after they have died, many times. I have clairvoyantly observed the after death experience of people who died peaceful deaths, traumatic deaths, who committed suicide and even opted for assisted dying. I have seen what happens during abortions, miscarriages, stillbirths, and when children die. I have also followed peoples pets as well as wild animals in death to see what happens.

I could see the beauty in the last phase of life as we know it, but noticed how my clients could not. I realised that if they could only see what I can see, knew what I knew about death, they would no longer fear that inevitable moment that will eventually happen to all of us.

I had no idea how to write a book or where to begin. All I knew was that I wanted to keep it interesting and simple. I also realised that there was no scientific proof of what I knew about death and there probably never will be. Science is routed in the three dimensions of our physical reality on earth. What happens after death is beyond the physical realm. I thus chose to write the book as a novel.

Writing a book is a mammoth task. Aspects of the narrative changed constantly, leading to the realisation that the book had taken on a life of its own, and was creating itself. I tried to stay clear of religious teachings about death, because every religion teaches something different, and I wanted to avoid insulting anyone. When writing the book I only relied on my own practical experiences and observations.

I rewrote the book many times, bringing forth deeper levels of understanding in layers upon layers. The result is that although it is an easy read, there are many layers of wisdom captured in those pages. Everyone reading the book would thus receive life changing insights no matter at what level of understanding they are.  Every time you re-read the work, you will discover a deeper meaning and understanding, that you could have sworn was not there during the previous read.

Although it took me seven years to complete the journey, it was well worth it in the end.

Synopsis

Synopsis

Imagine how much easier life would be if you understood it and the relief at knowing what happens to you after death.

Based on the real life experiences of a clairvoyant who has worked with dying and deceased clients, When you die is packed with lessons about life and death. The often-fraught sensitivities around death and dying are expressed lucidly in a beautifully written novel which has at its core the notion that if only people could appreciate the wonders of death they would no longer be fearful of it. The central message of this thought provoking work is that what happens to you after death depends mostly on how you are living right now.

The novel assists us with reconciling our current beliefs about life and death with new understandings that are evoked as we read it. It is set in pre- and post-apartheid South Africa and leans on some of the teachings of Nelson Mandela, reconciler supreme.

The central character, Joshua, discovers that he can guide the soul of the deceased on its journey into the afterlife, in a story shared with us by a wise and kind, but mysterious, narrator.

Although born with extra-sensory abilities, Joshua loses his gift at a young age. He grows up to become an arrogant young man dismissive of anyone and anything associated with the unseen. He is forced to reconsider what he believes in when paranormal events begin to intrude on his busy social life.
